I heard about Reaching the Unreached through my Mum in 2017 when my work charity team was looking for a children's charity in India to support. During the year we raised £1393 for RTU through 3 events - walking Hadrian’s Wall, swimming the Suez (in a swimming pool!) and a half marathon walk around London (with Mum).

Last November I was lucky enough to visit RTU and the whole trip was the most incredible, beautiful, humbling and unforgettable experience. While we were there we visited a home that two in our group had bought. It was such a moving experience, meeting the family who live in it now. As the trip continued, I decided this was something I wanted to do in 2019; to help a family have a home. To do this with a number of fund raising events, a few ideas are: selling cards, tombola (I love a tombola!), gin-tasting night and more as I brainstorm with friends.

Many of the families live in coconut-thatched houses on bare earth which are prone to vermin and easily damaged in monsoon rains, like the one shown in the photo above. The houses RTU builds, although small by our standards, give people a safe, secure home in which to raise their family.  A solid, functional home can transform the life of a family living in rural poverty in South India.

I chose the name 'Gran's House' because my Gran was amazing and is much missed and I figure most people feel this way about their Gran/Nan etc.
Please donate lots! 💜 xxx
